Facility Operations, led by Steve Palumbo, Executive Director of Building and Landscape Services, is responsible for the responsive and efficient delivery of day-to-day maintenance and repair of university buildings and systems as well as the implementation of the university's renewal program to proactively maintain Duke's buildings.
Facility Operations is comprised of the following trades defined by function below. These shops provide a range of services to academic, medical, research, library and special university facilities. In addition, Facility Operations manages various contract services, which include pest control, emergency generators, elevator service, and more!
Facility Operations is comprised of licensed mechanics, skilled technicians and craftspeople who are well equipped to assist customer needs. The unit's Customer Service Center processes all service requests for Facilities Management via a web-based enterprise asset management (EAM) system, in addition to providing 24-hour phone coverage. Facility Operations is dedicated to providing quality and well-organized responses to a steady stream of daily demands in order to serve customers and maintain the university in the most effective and efficient way possible.
