Strategic Initiatives
Creating Tomorrow's Duke Today by building, enhancing and maintaining the campus environment.
In the fall of 2007, the Facilities Management Department began a series of strategic planning sessions in order to re-evaluate its goals and priorities to help prepare for a future that is both desirable and achievable. In the summer of 2008, the Department finalized a Summary of Strategic Initiatives that clearly states our new mission, vision, goals and actions required to fulfill them. The actions identified will be reviewed regularly and adjusted as necessary.
Included in the Summary of Strategic Initiatives are ten broad strategies, each with an associated set of goals, descriptions and specific actions designed to advance the attainment of the goals. A "Champion", or team leader was assigned to lead a working group, responsible for prioritizing and implementing the actions in each strategy. These ten working groups meet regularly and also report to the core planning team on a regular basis to update the status and progress of implemented actions.
The Department is proud of the efforts put forth thus far and remains motivated to accomplish the actions noted in the Strategic Initiatives set forth last year. The Champions of each Strategy remain committed to keeping this plan at the forefront of daily activities and appreciate all the hard work displayed by the members of the teams. These efforts are extremely important not only for the success of the plan, but for the success of the Department as we continually strive to improve.
